This MAGNIFICENT DRESSING TABLE was made in England, circa 1880.
We purchased it in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, England.
The DRESSING TABLE is made of Walnut. It has a Deep Walnut Patina.
This is an English Victorian Dressing Table. It is in very good condition.
It has a spectacular, complex, Mirrored Gallery at the top. There is a Large Beveled Mirror at the center. This Mirror is spectacular all on it's own.
The Cornice scrolls upward at each side to a Pronounced Pediment at the center.
The Mirror has multiple Tiers of spectacular carving along the Pediment.
At the center is a beautiful Scrolling Foliage and Bell Flower Carving.
The Mirror has a gorgeous Scalloping Support with Two Tapering Corner Shelves built into each side.
Candles would have been placed on the Top Shelves so that the person dressing could view themselves more easily.
The Gallery between the Bottom Shelves is pierced and carved with the silhouette of Birds flanking a Tree. It is a charming design.
The Cathedral Side Mirrors can be tilted so that you can view yourself from all angles.
The base of the Dressing Table is composed of Three Graduating Drawers. The Graduated Design of the Drawers which taper in size from the most slender one at the top, to the deepest below is an indication of a fine Cabinet Maker, as are the half-blind dovetail joints which bind them at the corners.
The Drawers open to reveal deep, functional interiors for storing your folded articles of clothing.
This Dressing Table has all of its original Victorian hardware including, delicately formed, bale handle with scrolling backplates. These are an integral component of the overall design.
The Dressing Table is raised upon a beautifully moulded, Plinth Base.
This English Victorian Dressing Table is utterly feminine and opulently carved. It will make a magnificent impact upon any room in which it is placed.
