Here we have a stunning 1933 Philco 19 Cathedral Radio. I consider this model to be one of the most elegant catheral radios Philco produced. Gorgeous wood grain, recessed center inset, back lit shadow dial, Art Deco grill, Rosette knobs, and beautiful sound.
Cabinet: The cathedral designed cabinet is in remarkable condition. Virtually flawless. A gorgeous dark walnut top and sides is contrasted beautifully by a lighter walnut front with a recessed center inset making for a truly elegant look. Slanted wood grain runs across the front edges complimented perfectly by a very attractive tiger striped wood grain throughout the center inset. The large Art Deco grill not only looks spectacular but allows for optimal sound from the large speaker. This stunning radio is sure to be the highlight of any room in the home or office you choose to display it in. Please email me to see photos with Zoom Views. Be sure to view my other Radio Auctions!
The Cabinet’s Finish: All of our radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process using a minimum 12 coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat. The process is finished off with a three step polishing process with a final Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into these cabinets but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful cabinet with a silk smooth finish and gorgeous luster & shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the house or office.
Dial/Knobs: The four rosette knobs are in perfect condition and each function the way they should; tuning, tone control, on/off band switch, and volume. The back lit shadow dial is in good condition and lights nice and bright with a warm orange glow. All numbers and markings indicating station frequencies are legible and show little signs of wear. The brass escutcheon has been polished and is in perfect shape.
Electronics/Chassis: The 6 tube chassis is in excellent condition. The set plays beautifully on the AM broadcast band with sensitive reception, rich warm tone, lots of volume and no hum. All of our sets chassis’s are thoroughly cleaned, lubed and realigned. All tubes, caps and resistors are tested and replaced as needed. I will include a 30 day warranty on the tubes, caps and filters.
Dimensions: 13”W x 17“H x 9 ¾“D.
Approximate Shipping cost: $40 East Coast, $55 Central, $65 West Coast.
