Before the age of gargantuan fire engines, fire steamers, water trucks and hose wagons responded to the call of fire alarms. Pulled by matched teams of two or three horses, these wagons thundered through American cities in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Often Percherons, other draft horses, Morgans, or a mixture of those breeds, fire wagon horses were specially bred and trained to pull the heavy steamers at breakneck speeds both up and down any hills in the city. Breyer\'s bright red wood wagon, complete with rolling wheels and front wheels pivot and turn, features shiny brass-colored adornments, gold lettering on the side and an extra long hose for fighting fires! The genuine leather harness features chrome-like fixtures, side breeching straps, and driving reins. A team of matched greys each unique in their stance is ready to gallop to the scene of the fire!
I purchased this brand new in 2004. The set was discontinued in 2006. I have never opened the box to take anything out. Everything is as it was when purchased! This is a spectacular set and hard-to-find in unopened condition.
I will also have peter Stone horses, some Clydesdales, OOAK models, weanlings, and rare Breyers coming up on auction. Please watch my ads. Thank you!
