I am offering for sale a five-piece Marx O-gauge windup train set which has been in my family since the 1940s when it was purchase by my dad, who was an old railroader. The set includes an 8.5" plain engine (marked Marx on underside), a black tin car labeled New York Central, and three red tin cars -- two labeled Pullman Montclair and one labeled Pullman Observatory. Each of the cars is about six inches long has has all wheels and couplers. The observatory car has a gold-colored platform on itsd rear.
I can't remember this train running very much. Dad quickly graduated from this windup set to more elaborate electric trains, and I don't believe he ever set this train up in his new layout when we moved into our own home in 1956. It has been in my mother's attic for years.
I know nothing about grading the condition of old trains, but this set has no dents or major scratches, only some minor scratches and paint loss. I hope this great conditions come through in the photos so that you fellas who know how to judge these things came reach a conclusion of your own.. There is no key, so I have no way of knowing whether the engine still runs. However, I have no reason to believe it doesn't.
If you have questions, please contact me before you bid.
I'm picky about shipping, so each of these pieces will be wrapped in plain white paper and bubble wrap before being securely packed for shipping.,
THANX FOR LOOKING!
