This antique button “Drink Coca Cola-Sign of Good Taste” sign is a classic must-have for any collector --this beauty is in very good condition! The enamel on steel has limited scuffs and nicks and is a huge 36” across. It is marked “AM 49” …perhaps this means it is a 1949 vintage but I will leave that to the experts. Q. Is this sign porcelain?
A. No, it is painted metal. I am not an expert on these things but I have described it in my responses to be baked enamel paint--kind of like the paint on a car.
Q. Are there any damaged spots on it such as dents, missing paint, etc. What about touch ups?
A. I have added additional photos to better show the wear on this sign, which I have been told is nearly 60 years old. There are no dents that I observed. These signs have nail holes around the perimeter and as is for signs that were affixed to a wall, there is some paint damage there. The scuffing is mostly along the edge but there are a few on the face, too. There is one scratch by the "k" in "Drink." This sign is in good original shape and I am not aware of any paint touch ups.
