The Treasury Department's Bureau of Engraving and Printing proudly presents a unique Series 1995 $2 star note from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta that is simply revolutionary.
Thomas Jefferson, third U.S. President and the author of the Declaration of Independence, is featured on the face of the note. The engraved portrait was based on a Gilbert Stuart painting of Thomas Jefferson in the early 1800s. the back design of the note is an engraved reproduction of the painting, "The Signing of the Declaration of Independence," by John Trumbull.
This $2 note is unique in that it is a star note. Star notes replace notes from regular production for a variety of reasons such as research, testing, or because of damage. A star note is distinguished by a star in lieu of a suffix letter at the end of its serial number.
