VINTAGE UNITED CLOCK TV LAMP
RETRO EAMES ATOMIC
It doesn’t get any more “retro” than this clock lamp combination from United Clock Company. This clock, which keeps almost perfect time, is made up of a square clock face surrounded by black metal mesh screens over cream colored fiberglass shades with starburst designs. Each side is lit by a small clear bulb that turns on and off with a switch on the back of the clock. The clock sits on 3 metal balls that extend from a sturdy wire framework. The brass plated top is angled to give the lamp that mid century look.
The square clock face is white with gold numerals, red second hand and black/white hour and minute hands. “United” is embossed below the 12. As mentioned above, it keeps excellent time and runs silently. This clock is United model 340.
This clock lamp looks good from any side, even the back. It measures 12 ½ inches long, 7 inches tall and 4 ½ inches deep and weighs about 4 pounds. As the photos show, it’s in very good condition with no dents or damage that I can see. This lamp was in a private collection for many years, but it comes on good authority that it was in a Frank Lloyd Wright designed home in Buffalo, New York during the 1960's before it was purchased for the collection. This has not been verified but if I get new information prior to the end of the sale, I will update you.
