ATTN: Props are for size comparison and dramatic effect only! Auction is for one vintage knife & orig. sheath ONLY!
Here's an Excellent condition, KINFOLKS USA marked, 5" blade utility/survival knife with it's original tooled leather sheath. Made very popular by the Army/Navy pilots who needed a small survival/fighting knife to strap to the flight vest and not poke them in the ribs like the earlier, larger knives did. Shown in a photo on pg.166 of M.W.Silveys wonderful book on knives of US WWII where he note's the plastic guard and pommel due to wartime shortages of strategic metals. Seen also on pg. 43 in MILITARY KNIVES "a reference book" in an article by F.Trzaska where he notes, about the only thing in common with the various mark 1 types is that they had nothing in common. A classic line referring to the vast amount of models and makers of these knives. If as they say "condition is everything" then Finding one in this amazing condition is a definite plus, as most were brought home and became "users" which highly affects the value. This knife looks to be the orig. edge, no signs of sharpening, blade is near perfect with just slight scabbard draw marks, & very light scratches. Handle is tight and solid with some light scratches, as does the guard and pommel. To be expected as those area's are exposed during storage and handling. Pommel does have a slight looseness, 1/8" turn with right tool would probably fix it right up!? Original tooled leather sheath is also in excellent condition, tight domed rivets left bright, correct for a bright blade. Tight stitching, soft pliable leather. Keeper strap works fine, has some cracking due to age nothing serious. Back of sheath has what I think is an issue/serial number of S2647 ink stamped to it. A beautiful item to enhance any Military edged weapon/Fighting/Survival knife collection. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. Most of my item's are for sale local so on rare occasion I must reserve the right to end the auction early. Questions, comments & picture requests are encouraged. Be specific and I will do all I can to accomodate you. Please use the photo's as part of the description.
