Hi I'm James Parker and I am offering some Remington boxed knives for auction. Personal checks, money orders, and Pay Pal gladly accepted. TN residents pay 9.25% state sales tax. Winning bidder pays $10.00 for Priority Shipping with Delivery Confirmation included in the Shipping price. Thanks.
This is a really special knife that I have running for auction here. First of all, it is probably the oldest knife that I have ran for auction in the last year. After much research and history on the knife, I am pretty sure the knife was made in 1882.
The firm of New York Knife Company Walden began in 1856 and ran till 1931. The company was actually started in Matteawan, NY by several english immigrant cutlers. In a shart time from the start, the company was relocated to Walden, NY. This tang stamp was used through the history.
Display knives were made in very few numbers through the early years and normally given to retail hardware stores to advertise the brand. In 1882, the new marking was introduced which was the traditional arm with a hammer and the words Hammer Brand added to the picture. This knife is etched with the logo on the master blade.
Now, for the knife. Believe it or not, someone has used this knife. For what, I cant imagine!! The blades are actually razor sharp. They have been sharpened numerous times. The smaller blade does have a factory notched out section of the blade which I've been told by a couple of experts this is for cutting cigars. The knife is 11" closed and almost 27" open. The handles are a dark walnut and in great solid condition...no cracks!! The bolsters look to be iron and both were drilled for a bail (one of the bails is missing). The knife has a HUGE Bowtie shield that measures 2 7/8" long by 3/4" high. Both blades are tang stamped New York Knife Co. Walden. The master blade has the Hammer Brand etching. The master blade has a deep long nail pull.
For its age, the New York Knife Company Display knife is in overall good condition. This piece is very very rare and probably 1 of less than 5 in existance. This knife is estimated to be worth between $2500 and $5000.00. Good luck bidding!!
Please examine the supersized photos. This is the exact item you will recieve.
Thanks for your bids, we appreciate it.
