ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR FOOT ARTILLERY SWORD, MODEL 1832
ON OFFER IS AN ORIGINAL MODEL 1832 FOOT ARTILLERY SWORD PRODUCED BY THE N. P. AMES MFG. CO. FOR THE AMERICAN MILITARY. A VERY SUBSTANTIAL SWORD WITH A HEAVY BRASS HILT. THE POMMEL BEARS AN EAGLE STAMP ON BOTH SIDES, THE GRIP HAS A SCALE PATTERN. THE GUARD HAS AN INSPECTOR'S STAMP OF W. A. T.. THE BLADE IS STAMPED "N P AMES" AND "SPRINGFIELD" ON ONE SIDE AND "UNITED STATES" AND "1842" AND "JCB" ON THE OTHER SIDE. THE COMPANY'S FOUNDER, NATHAN P. AMES DIED IN 1847, AT WHICH TIME THE MARKINGS ON THE BLADE WERE IMMEDIATELY CHANGED TO AMES MFG. CO.. THE BLADE MEASURES 19 INCHES LONG, 1 3/4 INCHES WIDE. THE OVERALL LENGTH IS 25 INCHES. IT HAS WHAT I ASSUME WOULD BE CALLED A DARK PATINA, WITH VERY LITTLE PITTING AND A FEW SCRATCHES, AND HAS BEEN SHARPENED. A REAL PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY.

We are happy to combine shipments of multiple items to save you money. We'll pack as many items as will safely fit into whatever packing works for you. Insurance is optional, but reccomended, for a fee of $2.60 up to $200 and $4.60 up to $300. Above that, we'll have to check. Any package that is shipped uninsured WILL NOT be refunded if lost or damaged because it is the buyers CHOICE to decline insurance. All international shipments should be insured for their protection, but it is solely the responsibility of the Buyer. Lost or damaged items that are not insured WILL NOT be replaced or refunded. Sorry, but we can't be responsible for foreign postal systems. We prefer to ship UPS or Fed Ex on international shipments. If you have questions about any item, please email before purchasing and we will try to answer them. If you are unhappy upon receipt of an item, please contact us and we will resolve the problem. Our aim is to make many sales to our customers, not just one.
