The first African American to gain national eminence as a poet, Paul Laurence Dunbar searched for an authentic voice in his writing. Joggin’ Erlong is written in dialect, and illustrated throughout with toned photographs of African Americans. Bound in a red paisley cloth with a paper paste-down of black decorations surrounding an oval sepia photograph of an elderly African American man. There is a faint waterstain that goes throughout the top eighth of the book.
