This bound volume of Kinematograph Weekly covers October 1929.
There are hundreds of pages jammed full of full-size and double-page spreads advertising new movies with such magic names as: Barbara Stanwick; William Boyd; Cecil B de Mille; William Powell, etc. etc.
I particularly like a double-page spread - and that means a 17 inch x 12 inch poster - advertising Al Jolson’s follow-up to the Jazz Singer and the Singing Fool: Say it with Songs.
I appreciate that this was the heyday of the cinema, but it’s still staggering to realise that the industry supported weekly editions of a 70-plus-page, high-quality magazine.
Lots in here, of course – and we have four of them bound in this volume.
Lots, too, about cinema projection equipment, management, the circuits and news about the stars.
These volumes must be the ultimate source material for movie researcher.
The book measures 9 inches x 12 and is in perfect condition. No binding damage and no folds or creases anywhere.
