Vintage
Sterling Silver
Dresser jar
This jar is stunning! I guarantee you that it will move into position of being one of your top favorite jars if you're the lucky winner. It is clearly high quality and in absolutely perfect condition. You could use it to hold Qtips, hairpins, for beads, display, etc...
The glass is cut into a hobnail type pattern on the sides and it has a star on the bottom. Notice how the bottom edges round up.
The lid is sterling silver with a gold wash finish on the inside. The sides have a pie crust type edge and in the center there is a place for a monogram. The rest of the lid is highly decorated with flowers and scrolls. Please see photos for a better description than I am doing.
This was made in Birmingham, England...circa 1901.
Monogram: none
Measurements:
Length: 4 5/8"
Width: 1 3/4"
Height: 1 5/8"
Weight: 223 grams ~ Lid is 35 grams by itself... WOW!!
Marks: {L&S} maker mark {lion passant} sterling {anchor} town mark {b} date mark for 1901
Condition: PERFECT....what more can I say? It looks like it was made yesterday.
Rating = 10 out of 10

Trouble viewing this item? you can try the following: put the curser over the spot where the pic should be, then right-click, & from the drop-down menu, choose show picture or if you are on AOL you may want to shrink your AOL browser (don't close it) and open either Internet Explorer or Netscape browser. They are a much larger browser and you shouldn't have a problem.
Payment Terms
Payment is due within ten (10) days of auction close. For the time being, I accept Checks, Money Orders and PayPal. Ebay has issued a new policy of "no paper transactions". Effective January 15, 2009 I will no longer be able to accept checks or money orders (only PayPal). They own PayPal, I'll let you do the math :o) If payment is not received on time, Buyer forfeits all rights to purchase and Seller reserves the right to relist the item for sale.
Satisfaction
Read my feedback, most customers feel that my items are much better in person than what I described to them on the auction page. I guarantee that what you see in the photos is what you will receive unless otherwise stated. I only make refunds for errors in listings, I do not make them due to buyers remorse. I list all obvious flaws - this does not mean I will catch every single pin head size ding on a 150 year old item. This is what I consider "expected". If I say it has a wavy feel to it and you don't know what that means, email me before bidding. Don't wait until you have received it to say "well, I saw that you said wavy...but, I didn't know what that meant" or "I looked up the maker after I received my spoon and he was in business in 1855, not 1854". Please use your own reference material to determine the age/authenticity. Look it up before you bid, not after you receive the item. I may be getting my information from a different book, or I may have made a typo, or I just plain might be wrong. Errors on my part are never intentional, but they do happen ~ afterall, I am human :) On occasion I add to my descriptions, please check for additions at the bottom of this page before placing your final bid.
If you do receive an item that you aren't happy with, email me. I don't like to have unhappy customers, only happy ones. Check my feedback, I'm a fair and honest seller. Please give me the chance to fix the problem before you leave a negative feedback. I make my living selling on Ebay and when a customer leaves a negative feedback, that hurts my reputation (and my feelings :-).
Requests for refunds must be made within 3 days of receiving your purchase and items must be returned within 7 days of notifying me, in their original condition.
U.S. Shipping
I ship my items via the United States Postal Service. When I list a shipping rate, insurance is not included in the fee, it will be listed seperately. As sellers, if we give an insurance option, we have to give the rate when we post an auction. That means that we have to "guess" what the final selling price will be. Sometimes this amount is more or less when the auction closes. Please wait for my invoice (I generally invoice within 1 hour after an auction closes) and it will give the correct insurance amount.
When I invoice, shipping rates are given to customers assuming you are in the United States. If you're outside of the US, please see International Shipping below. I wrap very carefully (see my feedback comments). You will not receive your items wrapped in newspaper and flopping around in the box. I prefer to ship your item insured, however you may elect to not have it insured. If you do not insure your item, I will not take any responsibility for a lost or damaged item - no exceptions. I will combine the cost of shipping if you win more than one auction... I am very fair on my shipping fees.
IMPORTANT International Shipping IMPORTANT
It is the responsibility of the buyer to pay duty/VAT tax. Please do not ask me to fudge on the custom's forms.
I ship international items via the U.S. Postal Service. Shipping rates listed in the auction are for first class mail and do not include insurance or tracking. If the value of your package is over $100.00, I will be sending your package registered mail. Registered mail allows me to be able to track your package and does not cover the package against damage. The fee that I am charged for this by our local post office is $12.00 and will be added to the price of your shipping cost.
Insurance against damage is always optional. If you would like insurance, I have to send it priority international mail. Priority covers insurance against damage and provides tracking for the package. I am charged $20.00 for priority and the cost will be added to the price of your Shipping cost. I prefer to ship your item insured, however sometimes the USPS won't allow me to insure it depending on how and where your item is being shipped. OR you may elect to not have it insured. If your item is not insured (due to either reason), I will not take any responsibility for a lost or damaged item - no exceptions. I will combine the cost of shipping if you win more than one auction... I am very fair on my shipping fees.
