Bal Chouinard Programme, Original Walt Disney Autograph
Walt Disney Autograph on first page of Bal Chouinard 1961 Programme. Bal Chouinard was a fundraiser for scholarships to the Chouinard Art Institute. 1961 Rites of Spring masked ball, hosted by Jayne Mansfield, was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, April 14, 1961. Later that year the Chouinard Institute was merged with the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music to create the California Institute of the Arts. 28 page Programme is fully illustrated, and features a Salvador Dali half cover. Very Good condition. No marked, missing, loose, or torn pages. Light edge and corner wear, some creasing from the staples, more pronounced towards the last half of the Programme.Autograph is clear and bold, measures approximately 6 1/2'' x 3''. Walt had a close relationship with Mde. Chouinard dating back to the 1930's, and this programme, even without Walt's autograph, is an important artifact of Disney history. This is not a book that had runs in the thousands, or a signature on a scrap of paper.
