This planetarium is made by the Trippensee Planetarium Company in Saginaw Michigan. My brother found this planetarium at his junior high school sale at the time in a small town in Kansas during the early 1980's.
What makes this one rare is that it has the date of manufacture stamped on the base of the planetarium as "1957". (I have seen this planetarium sell on Ebay for several years but I have never seen one that actually has the year stamped on it). The planetarium shows the Sun, Moon, Earth, and the planet Venus. It is all original except for the planet Venus which was missing and I got a replacement from the Trippensee company about 5 years ago. The gears, chains, and the Bakelite plastic are in excellent condition. The sun has some light scratches but is in great condition for its age. The earth has a small torn piece where it says "Atlantic" as seen in the picture. Africa shows a slight wear but overall it is in good condition. The moon has lost some paint. The compass is in good shape but the lens is a little dirty. The handle has original paint and is worn in the center.
Overall it is in excellent condition for its age and will look great as a display piece.
I will carefully pack this planetarium to the winner of this auction. I am not sure what the actual cost of shipping will be, but if it costs less then I will refund the difference. (Insurance is included in the price)
