Beautiful light amber bitters bottle embossed "Brady s/ Family/ Bitters". The initials "J P" can be faintly seen in the glass preceding "Bradys". These initials were removed or peened out of the mold so the mold could be used again to produce this bottle. Designated B-193.5 in Ring and Ham's "Bitters Bottles", it is listed as "Very Rare". Advertised in 1865, the company was located in Louisville, Ky. at No. 226 Main Street, between Second & Third. Ad also in the "New Orleans Picayune" Feb., 1870. Recently dug from a central Kentucky privy or outhouse hole, the bottle has been lightly tumbled to remove ground stain. Some light stain remains in recessed or tight areas. No cracks. There is a tiny amount of roughness on one bottom corner which may be a flake or it may have been made that way. Regardless, it is so minor as to be insignificant. 9 7/8" tall, about 2 3/4" to 2 7/8" square. Crude, uneven glass with a nice bulge at the end of "Bradys". Prefer money order but will accept paypal.
