Ciao Ebayers, we have just returned from a whirlwind trip criss-crossing Italy searching for more fabulous treasures to present to you on Ebay. On this trip we discovered some spectacular Italian Religious Artifacts for you. This week our glorious group contains a large ornate Monstrance and Ciborium, a Neo-Gothic Thurible (Incense Burner), a fabulous portable Tabernacle, an Altar Chalice, a Church Statue Crown, Navicella (Incense Holder), Holy Water Bucket with Sprinkler, and assorted Sacramental pieces.
Please check our other auctions for each of these items. We have included a Group Photo with each listing so that you can see the Group together and get a better idea of their relative size. We have not attempted to clean or polish these pieces; we offer them to you as we found them.
IN THIS AUCTION we are offering a marvelous antique Silver-Plated three-footed winged Angel Italian Holy Water Bucket and Sprinkler (Aspergillum). This is one of the most unique Holy Water Buckets we have been able to find here in Italy – it incorporates the striking combination of a hand-hammered finish, incised decorative designs and, most striking, the winged Angels that curve gracefully to become the three feet that support the water bowl.
The classic Water Sprinkler or Aspergillum has a graceful handle that is beautifully decorated with detailed metal work. The ball is fully functional but the surface is dented from use over the passage of time.
The Holy Water Bucket is 5 ¼ inches (13 cm) high (not including the handle) and 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter. The sprinkler is 7 ¾ inches (20 cm) long (not including the hanging ring).
This magnificent and fanciful Holy Water Bucket is in good condition – sturdy with perfect balance. However, the Silver finish shows some wear and spots where the silver plating is worn and dull. This wonderful vessel will bring style, grace and elegance to any Altar setting.
