Ciao Ebayers, we have just returned from a whirlwind trip criss-crossing Italy searching for more fabulous treasures to present to you on Ebay. On this trip we discovered some spectacular Italian Religious Artifacts for you. This week our glorious group contains a large ornate Monstrance and Ciborium, a Neo-Gothic Thurible (Incense Burner), a fabulous portable Tabernacle, an Altar Chalice, a Church Statue Crown, Navicella (Incense Holder), Holy Water Bucket with Sprinkler, and assorted Sacramental pieces.
Please check our other auctions for each of these items. We have included a Group Photo with each listing so that you can see the Group together and get a better idea of their relative size. We have not attempted to clean or polish these pieces; we offer them to you as we found them.
IN THIS AUCTION we are pleased to offer this unique Vintage Italian Traveling Gilded Metal Tabernacle.
This is only the second time we have been able to find a Portable Tabernacle as they rarely appear for sale and we are especially excited to be able to bring this piece to you.
Complete with a carrying handle, this Tabernacle is ready for travel. The 2-front doors are ornately designed with a closing latch. The combination of smooth and pebbled surfaces makes the exterior design visually impactful.
Inside, the gorgeous curved back is engraved with a large bold I.H.S. with glorious radiating rays, which fill the area. This same design can be seen in the reverse on the exterior back. We particularly love the stylized “metal” curtains complete with two hanging tassels that frame the interior space.
The interior of the doors holds two removable candle holders. There is a drawer, which contains a white linen cloth.
This Tabernacle has given great service – there is evidence of its use and age appropriate wear to this piece. The top of the piece has a dent where the handle is attached. We have not attempted to clean or polish it but present it as we found it here in Italy.
The Tabernacle measures 12 ½ inches (32 cm) high – Not including the carry handle. It is 10 inches (25 cm) wide when the doors are closed. Add this special and fabulous piece to your Collection of religious artifacts.
