**Please note my excellent feedback and SATISFACTION GUARANTEE**
This listing is for a Seth Thomas 8-day time and seconds, round drop regulator clock, Model #1, ca. 1875. It is complete and works, well, like a clock--that is to say, I have been running it for a month, only winding, never having to adjust the time, which remains accurate to the minute. It is assumed to be in original condition inside and out, but best judge for yourselves by the photos, as we have nothing this old to compare to.
We see no evidence of damage or repair, other than the modern weight string (possible exception, I believe the plate on the wieght side has bushings that may or may not have been original.) The original case-latch and winding lever is included. Note that the hand-scribed second dial digits ARE original, as all the Model 1's were produced.
Additionally, the item comes with an exciting provenance, hand-written documentation which will be included: "This clock was originally in the Nashville Chattanooga & St. L. R.R. Station. Later the L&N Railroad at Lewisburg Tenn. It was acquired from the station in 1952..." and passed through that person's to the author's possession in 1972, from whose estate we acquired it.
I can't imagine finding a better investment in this model. Your satisfaction is fully guaranteed, including all shipping, should you wish to return it for any reason after inspection, in as-shipped condition of course.
Speaking of shipping, you are welcome to pick the item up here at no cost, or we will deliver the item to a family-owned packing and shipping company who will provide proper service in getting this safely packed and shipped for you, separately from this auction payment. Packing will likely cost around $35, and will likely result in about a 30 lb. package, and I am setting the eBay shipping estimator accordingly (note: shipping calculator is rough estimate only!)
We will not keep packing and shipping funds if accidentally paid with the eBay invoice, as these would need to go directly to the shipping agent. And yes, we would include the packing charges in any refund, as long as the packing is returned in usable condition. Feel free to email any questions--Thanks! Chas & Linda

ANSWERS to the most common questions:
SATISFACTION GUARANTEE: Your satisfaction is guaranteed, and that typically includes shipping costs if our description is in error.
TERMS: Checks welcome but may delay shipment. Virtually any payment method that gets the money to us is acceptable. Please reply and pay promptly. Intact delivery as described is guaranteed. We try to process all orders the week payment is confirmed.
SHIPPING: Alternative shipping methods can usually be accomodated. Very large or awkward items may require commercial packing, which will be noted in the auction listing description, including details on obtaining these services. Item pickup from our facility can usually be scheduled on request. Items not picked up within 30 days must be deemed abandoned, due to storage restrictions, although commercial storage can be arranged separately.
INSURANCE: We often self-insure, meaning that if there is shipping damage, you can simply contact us to arrange return of the item and we will reimburse all your costs. However, we will use carrier insurance on expensive and/or fragile merchandise. Carrier claims must be filed by the receiver (you)--carriers will not accept a claim after an item has been re-shipped back to us. Also, shipping damage must be documented by retaining all packing materials until the carrier advises you may discard them. This is true for all mail order shipping situations, not just us or just eBay. We pack extremely well and rarely have any shipping difficulties.
TERMS VARY OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES Foreign shipping insurance is highly recommended. Maximum refund for overseas shipping cannot exceed typical domestic charges. Overseas payment options vary by country, electronic funds transfer or postal (only!) money orders are best for the overseas customer.
WIN-WIN TRADING: We love making people happy with fun items, and we always leave feedback. By placing a bid you are accepting total liability for any and all consequential damages, beyond purchase guarantee (it is your responsibility to not drop it on your toe or burn your house down with it!) Thanks--Chas & Linda
BEWARE OF SNIPERS AND OUTAGES! Bid your max and let eBay Proxy Bidding do your work! EBay will bid only enough to win, not your max entered amount.
