This is a surprisingly large and very incredibly fine piece, part of an estate we purchased in New York City and in terms of condition, quality and craftsmanship, it's got everything you could want in such a knife--and then some. Measures 14.75" long with a thick, beautifully ground 10.5" blade and condition is absolutely excellent, with no damage at all to its carbon steel blade or its premium stag handle scales. It has some rust near the top of bolster (not nearly as bad in person as it appears in photos) and it does have some pitting and the blade has a very dark patina, but that is entirely consistent with its age, which we estimate to be from the period of the mid-late 1800's. Cross-quillon and pommel are solid brass. GORGEOUS stag handle is tight and right, with no cracks, chips or looseness. It does have a maker's stamp at the tang but I can only make out a portion of it, "__EFAN__," near the top of the logo and , what I think says "_ _ NYC ,NY," near the bottom. There isn't much more that I can say that the pictures can't say better, but if you have any questions, please ask them prior to bidding and we'll do our best to answer them swiftly.
TERMS of SALE
You must be 18 to bid. You agree to pay on time and we agree to ship on time. No local pickups. Intenational bidders are welcome, but we charge $10 above and beyond the actual cost on all international packages, and we require trackable shipping, so please email prior to bidding if you're unsure. We're allowing a three-day inspection period for this piece, but no longer than that, so you MUST notify us within three days of receipt--no exceptions. Regarding returns, please think "yard-sale" not "Nordstrom." In other words, we promise to work extra hard to photograph and describe everything, including any condition problems. If we've made an oversight or a mistake somehow (not likely, but possible--we're human just like you), let us know and we'll make it right. That should work well for both of us.
