I'm not certain if this is a tin type or a daguerreotype. The image in encased in the frame, with beautiful gold trim. Sadly, I do not have the cover of the frame, but I picture the back in image #3. The picture is 4-1/2" X 3-1/2".
I have a small collection of these that belonged to my Great Aunt, but no one knows who this young soldier is.
He appears to be a Union soldier, but the drum hides quite a bit of his uniform. I do suspect that he was from a regiment in Indiana/Ohio as that is where my ancestors lived. Actually I sometimes wonder if he's a soldier at all, the sash is actually quite dressy for a soldier. Perhaps it is a parade/dress uniform?
I will ship UPS Ground to anywhere in the US. No international bidders please.
