A superb collection of ethnographic glass slides . Most are in excellent original condition some have cracks and pieces of old paper attached. the ones in the images below give a good representative idea of what these are like. Comes with the original wooden box. There are three with writing on them identifying AW (Alexander) Dobbie b 1843 d 1912 as the photographer. He was a notable photographer and prominent foundry owner in South Australia In 1899 he toured Solomon Is. and PNG including Madang, New Britain, Milne Bay and Central Prov. He was a member of the South Australian Photographicd society and 42 of his photographs from this expedition form part of the SA museum collection. Google him and theres quite a bit of info about him. Each slide measures approx. 80mm x 80mm. As I've mentioned there are 92 of them and sorry I'm not going to scan them all. Offered without reserve.
