The item you are bidding on is the partial lower jaw bone of a young adult mastodon. The Mastodon died off approximately 10,000 B.C.. This specimen was found in southern Ohio on August 14, 2008. I have not cleaned this with any detergents only water. It was looked at by a curator with The Ohio State University. It measures about 30" long and 6" wide. One tooth measures 5" long x 3" tall x 3.5" wide, the other measures 4" long x 2.25" tall x 2.5 wide and the third tooth is below the jaw bone. It is a molar that hadn't emerged but can be seen. Any questions please contact me. I am selling this for a friend so it may take me a day or two to get back to you. Thank you for looking and your patience.
