OFFERING: This is a 100% all original parts vintage 1st production molded plywood "Lounge" LCW designed by the great Charles Eames, manufactured by Evans Product Company, Venice, California around 1948 and distributed by Herman
Miller, Zeeland, Michigan as stated on label. Making this chair even more rare is its unique original Red Aniline dye finish . Every piece of this fine chair is in superb original vintage condition with no obvious repairs or defects aside from what is described in the following, this highly desirable treasure has obviously been well protected and cared for over the past 60 years!
CONDITION: This rare first production Eames LCW chair is in superb original condition and is constructed of Birch multi-ply wood throughout. The Red Aniline Dye color is a seldom seen finish which was available on only the early Evans produced chairs. Due to the unstable pigments used for the red dye most of these that have survived are either extremely faded or have been refinished, even though this one does display the inherent signs of minimal fading it is uniform throughout and actually enhances the birch wood grain with an incredibly rich patina rarely found in these early styles. There are a few typical minor surface scratches due to wear and a few very small veneer chips - on one leg foot, the lower edge of the backrest and the top edge of the backrest (glued back in place long ago)...but all are barely noticable distractions from the overall presence of this fine piece. The early Evans/Herman Miller/Charles Eames label is fully intact with all the authenticating 1st production markings. The shock mounts are
all originally glued, strong and supple and appear perfect with no signs of deterioration and all mounting hardware is original, clean and tight. Early Eames/Evans LCW's are a rare and valuable find in themselves and the Red Dyed color version is undoubtedly the most sought after...if your on the hunt for one then don't let this extra fine specimen escape your collection!!!

SHIPPING*: Chair will be shipped fully disassembled to conform
to shipping limitations, reassembly is relatively simple and all hardware will be marked for easier assembly on your end. Item
will ship domestically for a fee of $45, International shipping will
run $85 to the designated countries. Insurance costs for either will
be additional and is required even though the chair is very durable and
will be packaged with great consideration. Recent International shipping regulation changes have put certain insurance value limits that vary from country to country of which I can not amend or be liable for. All
International bidders must also bear in mind and be responsible for the
customs regulations of their respective country since I have no way of
doing that on my end - I cannot falsify any customs documents to avoid paying duties.
