In 1910 John James Hardy received a request from members of the aristocratic Casting Club of France for a short, light, split-bamboo fly rod.
The club held their meetings under the presidency of Baron de Neuflize, at their headquarters in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris. One of the events at their annual casting tournament was "The Little Rivers" where extreme accuracy was required to place a fly into small floating hoops placed under overhanging branches along a wooded stream. Thus the requirement for a short light rod.
John James responded by producing a 7ft, 2 piece rod that weighed a shade over 3oz, which he personally demonstrated to the club members in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris. He succeeded in casting 25 yards to the amazement of onlookers. The little rod became Hardy's all time favourite bamboo fly rod and was catalogued under the name of 'C.C. de France' from 1911 to 1961.
To mark the achievement, Hardy's craftsmen have re-created that famous rod and presented it in this highly collectable Celebration Set, in a handsome Italian leather case. Along with the rod is a silver anodised Bougle Reel, inscribed with 'C.C de France', a double-taper four-weight silk fly line and a commemorative medal inscribed with the 'C.C. de France' Logo.
The superior quality and attention to detail is incredible, don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to own this highly collectable set of which only 100 were ever made.
Besides the fact that all of the 100 sets made have all been sold, Hardy has also announced that they will not be making any more which makes the item that much more desirable.
A must for the collector or true enthusiast.
