Solid Silver & Guilloche Enamel Pill Box / Compact 1915

The pill box or compact measures approximately 1 1/2 inches or 39 mm across and stands just under 1 inch or 24 mm tall. It is made from solid silver in a circular shape with a three section piano hinged click down lid that has a finger catch on the front edge, the top of the lid has a superb quality blue guilloche enamel central panel with a silver border and the side has also been decorated with a matching blue guilloche enamel that has silver borders of which the top one is decorated, the base has a wonderful engine turned decoration. The inner lid and base have been gilded or gold plated and are impressed with a 935 solid silver mark that is either Austrian, Swiss or French, I estimate that this pill box or compact was made circa 1910 to 1920.

The condition is Excellent with No Chips to the lid, No Dents, No Splits, No Cracks and No Holes, the hinge is working perfectly, the lid opens with ease and clicks tightly shut. The silver marks are legible although as the box or compact is used there are three small chips to the lower edge of the sides that look like someone has tried to repair along with some very minor signs of wear that are to be expected and a gentle clean would not go amiss. Personally I think that this pill box or compact looks fantastic considering that it's around 85 or so years old.
